To download the web files from your website, you will have to use a FTP client. The File Transfer Protocol is a standard network protocol used to transfer computer files from one host to another host over a TCP-based network, such as the Internet. You can download Filezilla if you are not sure which FTP client to use.

The next few steps will cover the instructions on how to download the web files from your website:

1. Using your FTP details, connect to your website via a FTP client.

2.  The httpdocs directory of the website is usually listed as after connection has been established.

3. You can select all of the files in this directory and drag them over to a folder on the workstation. A FTP client will never ‘cut’ and paste files, so dragging the files to the destination is safe.

4. If your website is hosted with a database attached, you must proceed to the next step after these files has been saved.
